This climbing expedition follows the most classic
line on the mountain. Although not very technical, this route
is demanding since climbing begins at 14,000 feet. It is highly
recomended that you start cardiovascular and aerobic endurance
training at least three months prior to this expedition.
Day 1: Reception in Mendoza Intl. Airport, transfer to
a hotel located in downtown Mendoza.
Day 2: Transfer to Vallecitos valley (9,200 ft.).
Acclimatization period, with ascents and trekkings to Mt. Arenales
or Mt. Lomas Blancas (11,500 ft.). Night in a mountain hut.
Day 3: Trekking to Mt. Piedra Grande (11,500 ft.). Night
in a tent camp.
Day 4: Ascent to Mt. Stenanek (13,700 ft.) and
Mt. Adolfo Calle (14,000 ft.), return to our tent camp; night
in the tents.
Day 5: Transfer to Penitentes (8,600 ft.), rest
day and night in the Hotel Ayelen.
Day 6: Trekking into the Aconcagua Provincial Park and
Confluencia Camp (10,800 ft.).
Day 7: Trekking to a vantage point on the south face
of Aconcagua, returning to the Confluencia camp.
Day 8: Trekking to Plaza de Mulas (14,000 ft.),
our basecamp for the route. Lodging in the Mountain Hut, which
provides excellent accomodations.
Day 9: Rest day in Palza de Mulas and acclimatization.
Day 10: Ascent to Camp 1, Plaza Canada (16,000
ft.)
Day 11: Ascent to Camp 2, Nido de Condores
(17,500 ft.)
Day 12: Ascent to Camp 3, Berlin (19,000
ft.)
Day 13: Summit attempt (22,840 ft.)
Day 14: Extra day for bad weather, summit attempt
or rest.
Day 15: Extra day for bad weather, summit attempt
or rest.
Day 16: Descent to Plaza de Mulas, night in the
Mountain Hut.
Day 17: Descent to Horcones and return to Mendoza
City, lodging in a hotel.
Day 18: Transfer to Mendoza Intl. Airport and
flight out.
